"Turn Around"

Acts 13:13-52

Rev. Charlie Phillips

As we continue in Acts 13, we set out alongside Paul and Barnabas on their first missionary journey and encounter Paul’s first recorded synagogue sermon—one that had a profound impact on the surrounding culture. And at its center was the simple Gospel. Have you ever considered that what can bring the deepest change to your heart and life is the simple Gospel of Christ? Have you searched your heart to see how deeply it’s taken root within you? See you on Sunday as we get a front row seat to the grace of God at work!

"Serving God's Purpose in our Own Generation"

Acts 13:36-52

Dr. Herb Ward

Luke records in Acts 13 that the Apostle Paul said of King David, that "when he had served God's purpose in his own generation, he fell asleep." The church of Jesus Christ is called to be a "light to the nations to bring God's salvation to the ends of the earth". There are still 2.1 billion people in the world today that have never heard about Jesus in a way that they can understand and respond to the Gospel. Are we serving God's purpose in our own generation?

"His Glory and Our Good"

Acts 12:18-25

Rev. Barr Overcast

"The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the LORD and against his Anointed... He who sits in the heavens laughs." (Psalm 2:2,4) Herod was not the first ruler to oppose God's purposes, nor was he the last. He was, however, one of the more egregious offenders, because he directly threatened two things God holds most dear. Join us on Sunday as this worm-ridden king serves as a window into the heart of God.

"The Holy Hinge"

Acts 12:1-19a

Rev. Charlie Phillips

Last week we talked about the truth the Spirit of God keeps front and center in the lives of His people when the world around us seems to crumble: grace will prevail. In Acts 12 we see a historic example of that truth playing out—God’s people terribly wounded and yet triumphantly delivered. Join us this Sunday as we gather to heal around God’s Word and the tender heart of our King, who meets His people in their grief and reminds them that even in the darkest moments, His grace will prevail.

Join us as we seek the Spirit’s movement in our lives and in the world.

"Little Christs"

Acts 11:19-30

Rev. Charlie Phillips

C.S. Lewis once said, “The Church exists for nothing else but to draw men into Christ, to make them little Christs. If they are not doing that, all the cathedrals, clergy, missions, sermons, even the Bible itself are simply a waste of time. God became man for no other purpose. It is even doubtful, you know, whether the whole universe was created for any other purpose.”

If Lewis is right, it begs the question: Are we becoming little Christs? This Sunday, we’ll explore the origins of the term “Christian” and what it truly means to bear that name.

Join us as we seek the Spirit’s movement in our lives and in the world.

"Pride & Prejudice"

Acts 11:1-18

Rev. Charlie Phillips

Joel Beeke once said, “In essence, sin is all that is in opposition to God.” Martin Luther put it this way: “Sin fails to let God be God.” And R.C. Sproul famously said, “Every act of sin is cosmic treason — a futile attempt to dethrone God in His sovereign authority.”

When you hear those words, who comes to mind?

The moral collapse of our culture?

The unbelieving world shaking its fist at heaven?

The obvious rebellions “out there”?

Or your own heart?

Acts 11 refuses to let us sit back as spectators of someone else’s treason. It confronts us with a sobering reality: sometimes it is not the pagan world that most resists the advance of God — it is God’s own people.

"Gospel Reverberations"

Acts 10:23b-48

Rev. Charlie Phillips

How often do we forget the mighty power of our God? In a world divided and filled with pain - a world that sometimes brings us to our knees -can we honestly admit that doubt creeps in? That we begin to wonder whether God is still moving …whether His gospel is still advancing …whether His grace still reverberates outward?

As you prepare for worship this Sunday, ask the Lord to open your eyes - to see His power, to behold His glory, and to trust in the everlasting reverberation of His grace.

"Hungry for Change"

Acts 10:1-23a

Rev. Charlie Phillips

It was so good to be back together this past Sunday! And I can't wait to gather again in just a few days!

As you prepare for worship this week, please read over Acts 10:1–23a and ask yourself these questions: In what way is God pushing into my life? What sin is the Spirit uncovering? What changes am I resistant to making? What rooms in my heart am I guarding at the door to keep Christ out? Am I willing to give way to God’s leading—not just for myself, but for the sake of the world?

"Qualified by Grace"

Acts 9:32-43

Rev. Charlie Phillips

In our text this week, the narrative shifts from the newly converted “hangman,” Saul, to one of the earliest and most established—yet deeply complex—disciples of Christ: Peter, and his newly developing ministry. Join us as we witness God’s hand at work, building His church through the most unlikely of characters.

"The Hangman and the Hero"

Acts 9:10-19a

Rev. Charlie Phillips

This week we encounter one of the most extraordinary moments in Scripture—which is saying something, given that we’ve just studied the most remarkable conversion in history! Come this Sunday with big expectations from God as we look at the interaction between a simple, fearful disciple and one of the most feared men alive.

"Taking Direction"

Acts 9:6-9

Rev. Charlie Phillips

William Carey The Great Pioneering Missionary to India, once said, “Expect great things from God. Attempt great things for God.” How many of us can honestly say we expect great things from God? And how many of us, in 2025, attempted great things for God?

"The Hunted"

Acts 9:1-9

Rev. Charlie Phillips

So far in our Advent series in Acts, the Spirit has challenged us to remember that the light of Christ always breaks through the darkness; to think outwardly; to seek the person of Christ rather than worldly power; to become unmoored and unassuming; and to do the unthinkable. We end our series with one of the greatest stories in all of Christendom—the conversion of the greatest opponent of Christ himself. Join us as we gather in awe of His grace!

"The Great Undeceiver"

Acts 8:9-25

Rev. Charlie Phillips

In a world captivated by power—from AI breakthroughs to billionaires chasing immortality—we’re told one of two lies: that we don’t need God, or that the world is slipping beyond His control. But Advent tells a better story. This week we’ll look at the God who breaks spells, shatters lies, and exposes counterfeit power. Come hear why Jesus is the Great Undeceiver—and why His breath still brings stone hearts to life.

"Breaking Dawn"

Acts 8:1b-8

Rev. Charlie Phillips

As we approach Advent, I want to share a quote from C.S. Lewis to prepare our hearts and minds. Lewis once wrote, “Enemy-occupied territory—that is what this world is. Christianity is the story of how the rightful King has landed… and is calling us all to take part in a great campaign of sabotage.”

Leave it to Lewis to cast Advent in a different light—not only as the story of our rightful King landing, but as the beginning of a mission in which that King calls us to participate.

So I want to challenge you, as we enter this season of Advent, to put a pause on all your planning and the flurry of activity in your heart and mind. As you pause, turn your attention to the Holy Spirit. Ask Him to bring Christ to bear on your soul in such a way that He slows you down to contemplate the glory of the Incarnation - the King who has come. And ask Him as well to make you freshly aware not only of His momentous love for you, but also of the mission He invites you to join.

See you soon…

"Do You See What I See?"

Acts 7:54-8:1a

Rev. Barr Overcast

When we come face to face with the story of someone's martyrdom, it is tempting to make much of the person who dies. After all, Stephen was clearly a godly man with many admirable traits. But as we come to this passage this week, it is not Stephen but Stephen's Lord whom we are pointed to.

"To the Ends of the Earth"

Acts 6:8-7:53

Rev. Charlie Phillips

This week we come upon the longest sermon in the book of Acts. It’s no surprise that this sermon is followed by the most physically brutal attack, ending with the death of Stephen, the first martyr of the church. Given the awful nature of the attack, would it surprise you that grace actually flowed through the words of Stephen? Ask for the Spirit to fill you as you prepare for worship on Sunday!

"Signs"

Acts 6:1-7

Rev. Charlie Phillips

Most people know Acts 6 as the “deacon passage" of the Bible because verses 1-6 talk about the first election and ordination of the diaconate in the early church. But what if there’s more to this passage than meets the eye? What if underlying this story is a message about the presence of good and evil amongst God’s people? Join us on Sunday as we dig in!

"New Beginnings"

Acts 5:12-42

Rev. Charlie Phillips

To frame this week’s sermon, let me ask you a question—Given that we ended the last sermon in Acts with the deaths of Ananias and Sapphira, what do you expect to happen next in the life of the early church? This begs another question—What do you expect God to do when things seem to be at a low in your own life? Pray for the Spirit to be working your heart as you come to worship this Sunday!
