Rev. Charlie Phillips
"Our King, His Kingdom"
"Certain events in our lives mark us more deeply than others--our wedding day, the first time we watched a movie in a theatre, the day we made the team, a career advance, etc. Sometimes we forget the events sandwiched by these "big" moments as if they're unimportant or even unnecessary. We sometimes even elevate just a few events, lessening the value of other life-defining moments. The church is no different. Rightly so, we celebrate Jesus' birth, death, and resurrection, but we sometimes forget or undervalue His ascension. But, as Tim Keller argues, to do so would be to miss out on an "irreplaceable..and important resource" for the Christian life. Why is the ascension so important? What part does it play in the Gospel? Join us this Sunday as we learn about and celebrate the ascension."
