Thanks so much for checking out Westminster Church's web page! I am
glad that you are interested in our ministries. Feel free to browse
around this site.
I don't know your story. But I would like to tell you a little about
mine. Though I was raised in church, it was quite a long time before
I really began to understand what radically good news the gospel is.
As a child, I was taught the basic facts of what Christians believe,
but more than anything I came away from church with a strong sense
of what I needed to do in order for God to like me. In a word, when
I thought about church, the word that summarizes what I felt was "duty."
Please don't misunderstand what I am saying. God does command certain
things of us. But I was much more aware of what I needed to do for
God than I was of what Christ had done for me. And like anyone else,
when I looked more closely at what God required, I had to admit that
I fell far short of that. It took a while to work through it, but
now I understand that the things God requires of me, he is also willing
to accomplish in me. I can't tell you what wonderful news that is
for me still.
Here's something important that I want you to understand about Westminster
Church-we want Sunday to be the highlight of the week. That means
we don't believe in long faces and cold pews. We try to stress a fresh,
practical approach to knowing God in terms that people can identify
with. As part of that we use a wide variety of Christian music and
styles to help communicate some amazing good news - God has done for
us in Christ what we could never have done for ourselves! So if you
are looking for a church home, or if you want to know more about what
it means to have a deeply satisfying relationship with God, I hope
you will come and visit, or that at least you will listen to one of
the messages on this site.
Feel free to contact us, if we can assist you in your spiritual pilgrimage.
I look forward to meeting you.
Sincerely in Christ,
Chuck DeBardeleben
